Questions and Answers

Q: What is soil regeneration as a service?

A: Soil regeneration as a service is a farming practice that focuses on rebuilding and maintaining healthy soil by incorporating practices that promote soil health and reduce erosion. By focusing on soil health, it is possible to increase crop productivity, and improve environmental outcomes such as carbon sequestration and biodiversity increase.

Q: What are agroecosystems?

A: Agroecosystems are agricultural systems that are designed to mimic natural ecosystems by incorporating principles of ecological science into farming practices. By doing so, it is possible to create more sustainable and resilient farming systems that promote environmental health and biodiversity.

Q: How does the use of robotics benefit soil regeneration as a service?

A: The use of robotics in farming can help to increase efficiency, improve environmental outcomes by allowing for precise and targeted operations, avoiding the impacts of large-scale machinery like tractors. This is also fundamental on agrivoltaic projects. For example, robots operating on an electric engine reduce local and global carbon emissions.

Q: What is agrivoltaics organic regenerative farming?

A: Agrivoltaics is a farming practice that combines the use of solar energy and agriculture by co-locating photovoltaic (PV) panels and crops in the same area. This approach allows to use the same land for both energy production and crop production, while focusing on soil regeneration as a service, carbon sequester, biodiversity increase, and the use of robotics. The goal is to create an integrated system that produces multiple benefits, including energy production, crop production, and environmental benefits, all while building agroecosystems.

Q: Is agrivoltaics expensive?

A: No. Our method of Agrivoltaics actually saves costs as it adapts to the PV parks exactly as they are, and do not require planning nor installation of special high mounted structures.

Q: Does agriculture conflict with solar panels irradiation?

A: No. Our crops height and disposition are well planned and do not shadow the solar panels surface at any time, thus never impacting the hours of direct sun light incidence.

Q: Does Agrivoltaics conflict with other O&M services?

A: Not at all, some operations can even come out benefited. While the panels’ washing or electrical maintenance scheduling should require coordination with our operations, the security of the park is also increased by our team physical presence in the field, constantly watching over the infrastructures.

Q: What are the benefits of agrivoltaics?

A: Agrivoltaics offers multiple benefits, including energy production, crop production, and environmental benefits. By combining energy production and agriculture, agrivoltaics can reduce land use competition, reduce water usage, and increase land use efficiency.

Q: What is carbon sequestration?

A: Carbon sequestration is the process by which carbon is captured and stored in long-lived vegetation and soils. By sequestering carbon, it is possible to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which can help to mitigate climate change.

Q: What is biodiversity increase?

A: Biodiversity increase is the process of increasing the variety and abundance of different plant and animal species in an ecosystem. By increasing biodiversity, it is possible to create more resilient ecosystems that are better able to adapt to changing environmental conditions.
